Mr. Ken Stethem

Ken Stethem is the founder and CEO of Aegis Industries, LLC and a retired U.S. Navy SEAL and Senior Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. During his 20-year military career he served on SEAL Teams FOUR and EIGHT in addition to the U.S Navy’s most elite Special Operations organization known as the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. Stethem has nearly 30 years of experience in the security industry and has dealt extensively with terrorism and terrorist related issues, both professionally and personally. Stethem’s younger brother, SW2/DV Robert Dean Stethem, was the U.S. Navy diver brutally murdered in 1985 by Hizbollah terrorists during the hijacking of TWA Flight 847.

Over the course of his career in the U.S. Navy, Stethem developed and participated in numerous Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations, Maritime Interdiction Operations, Vessel Board Search and Seizure Operations and Presidential Protection details. Stethem has developed a number of techniques, tactics, procedures, innovative products and training programs for military, law enforcement and private security personnel.

Inspired by the courage of his brother, the events of September 11, 2001 and the understanding that out of tragedy can come triumph, Stethem founded Aegis Industries with the mission to defend, protect and preserve life.

Prior to his retirement from the military, Stethem recognized that future ‘Military Operations Other Than War’ would demand a new generation of intermediate force options to safely and effectively deal with aggressive noncombatants and non-compliant individuals. In response, Aegis Industries developed the most extensive Research and Development program ever conducted for intermediate force options prior to their operational deployment. As a result, Aegis is now recognized as a world leader in the design, development and deployment of an entirely new class of intermediate force options. Their scalability, modularity and functionality have combined to create a valuable paradigm shift in the effective application of non-deadly force.

Stethem also currently serves as a reserve U.S. law enforcement officer and is a member of the Board of Trustees for The Ashlar Foundation, which brings together individuals and organizations from diverse disciplines committed to growing and supporting life, safety and security initiatives both nationally and internationally. His work has taken him throughout North, Central & South America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle and the Far East.

Sensitive to the needs of both U.S. military personnel and the families of victims of terrorism, Stethem steadfastly continues to identify and campaign against the inconsistencies in U.S. government policies dealing with terrorism, Counter-Terrorism, Foreign Terrorist Organizations and State Sponsors of Terrorism. Mr. Stethem periodically provides commentary on terrorist and terrorist-related policy issues for CNN, FOX, MSNBC and a variety of national and local radio programs.
